Scholarship Funds

Starting an OCF scholarship fund is an excellent opportunity for donors who wish to change lives and promote economic security by helping Oregon students to get the education they need.

If you choose to start a scholarship fund, you will be in good company. OCF's scholarship program grows dramatically each year, with awards now totaling about $5 million per year.

Overview

In the 2012-2013 academic year, the OCF scholarship program:

  • Comprised 360 funds with more than $100 million in assets, each of which was set up by an individual, family, organization or business
  • Awarded approximately $7 million in scholarships to more than 2,300 Oregon students

The amount given out in OCF scholarships has tripled over the last four years, but the need has increased as well. Tuition is increasing across the board for Oregon’s four-year public universities. Many students graduate with debt exceeding $20,000. For low-income Oregon students, the net cost of attending college represents about half of their annual family income.
