Better Nursing Home Care Fund

The Better Nursing Home Care Fund was created at The Oregon Community Foundation in 1986 by the U.S. District Court, as partial restitution in a court case involving the fraudulent operation of nursing homes. The U.S. Department of Justice added to the fund in 1992, via a settlement in connection with a separate court case. In addition, private donors contribute to the fund as a way of supporting improvements in nursing home care.

Grant Program

The Better Nursing Home Care Fund generally supports projects each year that focus on improving care for nursing home residents in Oregon.

The fund is currently shifting its focus by pursuing more proactive grantmaking strategies. At this time, it is not soliciting applications through an open Request for Proposals (RFP) process.
