Grant Program
The Better Nursing Home Care Fund generally supports two or three projects each year aimed at improving care for nursing home residents in Oregon. About $30,000 is available for the grants awarded each spring. The application deadline is February 7. (If the deadline falls on a weekend, the application is due at OCF the previous Friday.)
We share proposals submitted to this grant program with individual donors interested in projects that aid older Oregonians. In this way we hope to maximize the efforts of our applicants, better meet the needs of our donors, and serve more of Oregon's seniors.
Below are links to the request for proposals, the application form and the post-grant evaluation form, which is the standard form used by many of our grant programs.

Fund History
The fund was created at OCF in 1986 by the U.S. District Court as partial restitution in a court case involving fraudulent operation of nursing homes. The U.S. Department of Justice added to the fund in 1992 via a settlement in connection with a separate court case. In addition, private donors contribute to the fund as a way of supporting improvements in nursing home care.
