The Oregon Community Foundation is pleased to offer an opportunity for your school district to apply for a grant to fund in-school or extracurricular programs providing enrichment opportunities for those children who are identified as High Potential Students or otherwise show capacity for high achievement. The Fund especially wants to encourage programs which inspire and motivate high potential students who may not be fully engaged through existing school programs—something to ignite those “Bright but Bored” kids?
Since 2006, the Chintimini Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation has supported programs for high potential students, including those identified as Talented and Gifted (TAG), at schools and other community organizations in Lane, Linn, Benton, Tillamook, and Lincoln counties. Beginning in 2011, the program is expanding to accept applications from Douglas County. This year’s RFP describes the goals of the program, national research about excellence in programming for high potential students, and the application process. Competitive proposals will fulfill the program goals, incorporate research-based and innovative strategies, and integrate program planning with program evaluation in mind.
Eligible applicants include schools, public agencies and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Lane, Linn, Benton, Douglas, Tillamook and Lincoln Counties. Organizations can use grant funds for project expenses only, not operating costs. Eligible expenses may include materials, program marketing costs, staff time, and administrative support. Organizations cannot use the funds for fundraising expenses or for program endowments. Average grant awards are expected to range from $3,000 to $7,000 each.
The next due date for receiving applications is Tuesday, March 15, 2012 by 9:00 p.m. If the Chintimini Fund does not receive your application by this date and time it will not be considered for funding during this cycle.
