Overview
The Nike Employee Grant Fund (NEGF) was established at The Oregon Community Foundation in 2010. Through this fund, Nike employees work with OCF to award at least $500,000 per year to local nonprofits.
This is Nike's "backyard" grant program, engaging employees in aiding nonprofits in communities where local Nike employees live – Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah, Washington and Yamhill counties in Oregon and Clark County in Washington. Grants will be one-year awards, generally between $5,000 and $20,000.
Grant Guidelines — Changes Beginning October 2011
Additional Interest in Environmental Sustainability
Beginning with the fall/winter 2011-2012 grant cycle, the Nike Employee Grant Fund program is focused as follows.
- 60 percent of the grants will be awarded through the lens of sport, for projects that use sport or physical activity to leverage other community benefits
- 40 percent of grants will be awarded for non-sport projects with the potential for long-term impact on our environment, health and/or the well-being of children and families
Program Timeline & Process
Applicants use an online application system. An organization may submit only one NEGF request during a grant cycle. Two grant cycles occur each year:
- Proposals submitted between April 15 and 5 p.m. June 1 receive a formal OCF board decision in September
- Proposals submitted between October 15 and 5 p.m. December 1 receive a formal OCF board decision in March
Applying for a Grant
For more information about the program — including specifics about priorities, eligibility requirements, and project competitiveness — please see our Program Guidelines. For answers to questions, please contact program coordinator Diane Redd at OCF-NikeFund@oregoncf.org.
When you have reviewed our guidelines and are ready to explore the application process, see our Online Application System. You will be asked to "register" first, entering your name, contact information, etc., but you will not be required to immediately enter grant information. Once you do start your grant application, you may finish it over the course of several weeks as long as it is completed by the deadline (that is, you are not required to finish the application in one sitting).
Here is a link to the Nike grant application questions in the online application.
Submitting a Post-Grant Evaluation Report
Post-grant reports are due 12 months after a grant was awarded. They are submitted electronically by visiting the same Online Application System used for the original grant application. Here is a link to instructions and a list of the questions. Please note: If you are submitting a grant application for the cycle that ends a year after your grant award, you will need to enter preliminary information into your online grant evaluation report when you submit your new application.
