RAI Grants in Eastern Oregon
In 2010 (Year 1) and 2011 (Year 2), the Eastern Oregon Leadership Council awarded a total of $472,499 in grants to seven nonprofit organizations that provide mentoring and enrichment programs in the region:
- Building Healthy Families in Wallowa County received $40,000 for Year 1 of a three-year effort supporting the Youth Enrichment Project. This project provides mentoring programs that help youths to strengthen academic support, build positive relationships with adults and engage in leadership and entrepreneurship curricula. In Year 2, Building Healthy Families received $35,000.
- Families First in John Day received $40,000 in Year 1, and $30,000 in Year 2.
- Hermiston Outdoor School received $17,000 in Year 1, and $15,000 in Year 2.

Kids Club of Harney County received $35,000 for Year 1 of a three-year program to expand mentoring, wellness activities and academic improvement services to children in need attending grades 1-6. In Year 2, it received $25,000.
- Lost & Found Youth Outreach of Umatilla County received $40,000 for Year 1 of their three-year effort to provide and enhance afterschool, evening and weekend enrichment programs for at-risk youth. In Year 2, they received $40,000.
- Oregon Writing Project at Eastern Oregon University partners with Fishtrap and ArtsEast to provide writing-related enrichment events for young people in rural Eastern Oregon. This three-year project received $30,000 in Year 1, and $25,000 in Year 2.
- McNary Heights Elementary Afterschool Program received $60,499 in Year 1, and $40,000 in Year 2. This afterschool program serves an average of 350 students per year.
