OCF Spring Grants Support the Critical Work of Nonprofits Around the State

PORTLAND, OR – From food banks to affordable housing, education to health care, The Oregon Community Foundation is supporting the critical work of nonprofits around the state with a spring grant distribution of more than $10,470,000.

In Douglas County, The Oregon Community Foundation announced a $41,854 grant to Umpqua Community College to start a Practical Nursing Program. The program will help increase education, jobs and healthcare in the area.

In Prineville, a $30,000 grant from OCF will help the new group Crook County Kids fill a deep need for after school programs for at-risk kids.

A $25,000 grant from The Oregon Community Foundation will help Salem’s Helping Hands Resources build a new client service center where they can distribute clothing, bedding and household goods to those in need, free of charge.

“In these difficult times, The Oregon Community Foundation is responding to increased needs across Oregon. Our donors have stepped up to the challenge and thanks to their generosity, we have been able to continue our community grants program at the same level this year as last. It is critical that we support programs that support our most vulnerable citizens and shore up our local economy,” said OCF President Greg Chaillé.

As a community foundation, OCF works with individuals, families, and businesses to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Since 1973, OCF has distributed more than $500 million in grants and scholarships to improve the quality of life in Oregon. It is the ninth largest community foundation in the country.
