Greg Chaillé, president of The Oregon Community Foundation, has been named Birth To Three’s 2011 “Champion of Children.” Chaillé received the award, which is the highest honor Birth To Three gives, based on his years of outstanding support for children and families. Chaillé was honored at Cirque de Famille, Birth To Three’s fundraiser, on Friday night at Valley River Inn.
Chaillé has guided The Oregon Community Foundation for 23 years. He has built it into the ninth largest community foundation in the United States, with more than $1.1 billion in assets.
Established in 1973, the Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds that support community causes. In 2010, OCF awarded approximately $60 million in grants and scholarships around the state through more than 1,600 funds.
Birth To Three is a private nonprofit agency that has provided parenting education in the Lane County, Oregon, area for 233 years. It been supported by OCF for more than 25 years, receiving funds for specific parenting projects and for general operating expenses. Nearly 90,000 parents and children have been served. Birth To Three’s vision is that every child will be nurtured by loving, skilled parents.
