Past OCF board member and Walker Fund committee chair Lyn Hennion was honored on June 1 at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater.
The celebratory program and reception, which drew more than 200 members of the Southern Oregon community, also recognized the Reed and Carolee Walker Fund 2011 grant recipients, who were awarded a total of nearly $2 million.
Lyn’s service to the community and state goes well beyond her commitment to OCF. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Oregon Cultural Trust Board and on the boards of the Oregon 529 College Savings Network, Pacific Retirement Services, Buncom Historical Society, and the Applegate Valley Rural Fire Protection District #9. She has previously served on the boards of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Medford Rogue Rotary Foundation, and many others.
“Lyn has been a tireless advocate for OCF, for our state, and particularly for her beloved Southern Oregon region,” said OCF President Greg Chaillé. “We will miss her but won’t let her go far, as she will continue to serve on OCF’s investment committee and on the board of two of our supporting organizations.”
Guests brought children’s books to be donated in honor of Lyn, in recognition of her passion for early childhood programs. It is just one way that Lyn’s legacy with OCF will continue.
