This is a unique guide for Oregon educators, parents and community members who wish to create, manage and sustain an outdoor school program in their community.
We at OCF believe that residential outdoor school programs provide an ideal environment for learning, personal growth and connecting with nature.
Prepared by OCF and written with the help of a specialized community advisory committee, this guide includes innovative ideas, helpful checklists, case studies, program examples and resources to help you create an outdoor school program that meets your community’s needs.
This is no “one size fits all” approach! The stories and interviews in the guide provide real-life examples of four different program models operating in the state. Information about regional and national resources will help you delve into topics of particular interest including fundraising for your outdoor school program. And, the appendices includes budgets, letters, checklists and other helpful materials.
The guide is available for free download at www.oregoncf.org/outdoorschoolguide. Paper copies are available in limited quantities upon request. Contact Rana DeBey at 503.227.6846 or RDeBey@oregoncf.org.
